Hello everyone,

On Tuesday, April 28th, the Coco’s Wish Journey Initiative was officially launched. I had the honor of being present to support and recognize an initiative and event that truly deserve such acknowledgment.

I would like to take a moment to share a few sentiments that I believe are especially meaningful.

I have had the privilege of knowing Mrs. Connie, her daughters, and some of her close friends. Over the past three years, I have witnessed her journey and the strength she brings to those around her. Through this, I have come to understand not only who she is, but also the profound and positive impact she has on her community.

It is truly an honor to be here today. I would be remiss not to acknowledge how remarkable Mrs. Connie is, as well as the bright future ahead for her daughters, Coco and River.

Regarding Coco’s Wish

It is important to remember that what truly matters is not the size of a contribution, but the love and intention behind it. Solidarity is love put into action. Often, it is the smallest gestures that have the greatest impact, transforming lives and bringing happiness to others.

Looking Ahead: Coco’s Wish

Nearly two years ago, I observed that Mrs. Connie had built strong professional relationships while successfully balancing her career, household responsibilities, and the care of her daughters. During a friendly conversation, I suggested organizing an event that would bring together companies within her network—something unique and impactful that could reflect her potential as a forward-thinking and successful businesswoman.

Last year, at the Golf Season Closing Dinner, I had the opportunity to introduce Mrs. Connie to Mrs. Anita Chen. That connection led to valuable networking and meaningful discussions that contributed to the development of the Coco’s Wish project.

Inspired by these experiences, Mrs. Connie began organizing events within her network. With her remarkable energy and initiative, she quickly transformed the idea into reality. Today, we are proud to be part of “Coco’s Wish,” an initiative that will host events across multiple areas of sport, including golf. She not only embraced the idea but expanded it, incorporating additional sports to further its reach and impact.

Regardless of my role or position within this endeavor, what matters most is that the idea has evolved into a meaningful project—one that must continue to move forward.

I invite all of you to support and participate in these events. Together, we can create meaningful opportunities and bring lasting benefits to many children like Coco and their families.

About Coco’s Story

Allow me to begin with a brief personal note. I have three grandchildren—Thomas, Sarah, and Liam—who have all been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). They are developing very well thanks to the dedication of their parents, Luigi and Rafaela, the support of their grandparents, and the assistance of government programs. Their progress is remarkable, and their growth is supported by a collective effort that fosters a healthy, joyful, and fulfilling life.

We all have challenges to overcome, and my grandchildren has earned her opportunity to succeed. When individuals pursue their passions—especially those on the autism spectrum—they gain greater opportunities to thrive. Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we respond. Autism is part of life, but attitude and determination shape the outcome.

For my grandchildren, autism is not an illness; it is a challenge they face and overcome every day.

I would like to share Coco’s story. Her mother, Mrs. Connie, first came to us through a recommendation. She enrolled her younger daughter, River, in classes and shared that Coco was on the autism spectrum. With determination and optimism, she asked whether Coco could also learn golf. My answer was simple: yes.

At first, Coco would accompany her sister and sit quietly during lessons. One day, I suggested asking Coco if she would like to try. She said yes—and that moment marked the beginning of a journey that has now lasted nearly three years.

Since then, Coco has developed a genuine love for the game. She continues to improve steadily and is now preparing to participate in her first open tournaments this season, where she will engage and compete alongside other children her age.

I am incredibly proud of Coco, her sister River, and their mother, Connie. Their dedication, progress, and positivity are truly inspiring.

Sports and Autism: Understanding the Importance

At LM Golf School, we do not confuse difference with incapacity.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) affects neurological development, influencing communication, behavior, and social interaction. While each individual experiences autism differently, one constant remains: the need for meaningful opportunities to grow, connect, and thrive.

The inclusion of sports and physical activity in the lives of individuals with autism has proven to be highly beneficial. Beyond physical health, sports contribute significantly to emotional well-being, social development, and overall quality of life.

Why Are Sports Important?

Sports provide far more than physical exercise. Over more than 20 years of working with children, I have consistently observed that regular participation in physical activity helps individuals with autism become more socially engaged, step outside repetitive routines, and improve their communication and interaction skills.

Golf, in particular, offers unique therapeutic benefits. Its structured yet calm environment encourages focus, patience, and self-regulation. Additionally, being outdoors helps reduce stress and promotes a strong sense of well-being.

Choosing the Right Sport

In my experience, success is not only about choosing the right sport, but also about choosing the right coach, teacher, or instructor. The understanding, adaptability, and approach of the professional leading the activity make a meaningful difference.

Every child has the ability to participate in sports. Some are different, but none are incapable.

Golf is a sport rich in history and tradition, offering an excellent environment for personal growth. It allows children to spend meaningful time with coaches, peers, and family members while benefiting from structured routines, social interaction, and connection with nature.

Today, we are proud to be part of “Coco’s Wish,” an initiative that will host events across multiple sports, including golf.

When we extend a hand to those in need, we multiply hope and strengthen the bonds that connect us all. Solidarity remains at the heart of everything we do.

I have never doubted that a small group of thoughtful and committed individuals can grow an idea into something truly powerful. It takes vision to see and compassion to act.

Let us continue striving to become the best version of ourselves—together.
