The MGD JUNIOR GOLF CHALLENGE designed by Luiz Martins and Graham Ure has finally happened and it promoted the meeting of young students on the difficult and technical Markham Green Golf Club this Sunday Sep/29.
Luiz and Graham led two teams at the opening of the event that aims to teach and train young golfers for the future. While the two celebrated the event, Graham's team took home the win and the Cup. A handful of big names of young people appeared in the course, including friends, parents, and family members on both sides. The Graham team - with 10 kids defeated team Luiz with 10 kids, 14 to 11. Highlights include Amy Wang, Harry Li, Lucas Myiasaki, Willian Dai, Andre and Alex Zhiang students and guests from School. Martins, who is experienced in organizing such competitions for juniors, comments that such competitions aim to empower and train young people to become good sportsmen. Improve they manners on the course, learn the rules of golf and increasingly make good swings which result in excellent shots and better results. It doesn't matter who's the winner. The important thing is to compete to get together. For the next year we will organize a full event in three days at 54 holes, in 18 holes for day. Format 54 holes Match Play: One day four-ball (best-ball) match, One day foursome (alternate shot) match on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, 10/12 twelve/ten single matches are played at 18 holes. Each win counts three points and, in the event of a tie, corresponds one point to each team. Since one defends the title and needs to be a champion (in case of a tie in Sunday's result, the rules say a Play Off will be played in sudden death between a Luiz Team double and a Graham Team double from the hole 1.
